I Know Every Mile Will Be Worth My While
I’m about 3/4’s packed. The rest will happen after work this evening, and I’m on the road at dawn tomorrow. My 2200 mile round-trip Excellent Louisiana Adventure to Babes is going to be epic!
I started this blog not quite 3 years ago after my first Babes 3-Gun match at the Rockcastle Pro-Am. I had SUCH a sense of pride and accomplishment after that adventure. I had turned 50 that summer, and was scared to death that I would make an idiot out of myself. But I overcame my apprehensions, accomplished my (albeit modest) goals, and came out of the experience a stronger person.
It’s difficult for me to articulate how I feel about Babes With Bullets. http://babeswithbullets.com/index.html
These accomplished women have guided me along, and become my friends. They made me realize that I am not a weirdo for being a girl who likes guns. I will be forever grateful for that. Every time I attend an event, I feel like it’s a homecoming reunion with my best girlfriends. I can’t wait to get there!
The lyrics to this Disney song rather aptly describe how I feel. It was playing in the car on my way home from that first Rockcastle match. (Yes I listen to Disney soundtracks while on shooting trips. I’m a pediatrician – don’t judge me) π
“I know every mile will be worth my while. I would go most anywhere to feel like I belong.” π
